Mona Desai

Mona Desai, Esq. is an experienced attorney for Vantage Legal Solutions, P.C., and focuses on employment matters.  She devotes a substantial amount of her time counseling and representing employers in unemployment cases and appeals before the Department of Employment Security.  She also performs third party investigations for clients who receive formal internal or external allegations of discrimination.  Mona advocates on behalf of businesses large and small, and across all industries, including medical and dental practices, transportation companies, internet start-ups, and not-for-profit institutions. In addition to her advocacy role, Mona regularly advises clients seeking proactive strategies on employment issues in developing strategies to help limit their unemployment insurance liability.

As Counsel at Vantage Legal, Mona represents hundreds of employers each year before various adjudicative tribunals within the Illinois Department of Employment Security, by way of the State of Illinois Legal Services Program.  Her work in this regard has helped many employers save hundreds, thousands and even tens of thousands of dollars in costs associated with unemployment contributions.  Mona also has experience in conducting an analysis of clients’ payroll rules and job classifications to ensure compliance with Fair Labor Standards Act.

In many instances, Mona represents the first attorney with whom a client has come for legal advice and representation.  Mona appreciates this and takes special pride in learning the intricacies of the client’s business and helping the client understand the issues that arise during the employment lifecycle.  Mona especially admires the intrepid entrepreneur who draws on prior work and life experiences to start a new business “from scratch.”

Mona received her law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she was on the Dean’s List for five semesters.  Prior to law school, Mona earned her B.A. magna cum laude in English Language and Literature with a minor in Political Science.
